Well we finished the duck pen and the duckies are all moved in. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Puddles' and Aflac's new home
should I remove the splash tub at night?
Can I come and live in your duck pen? It is much nicer than my house at the moment.
If they can safely climb in and out of that tub I don't think I would worry about it being there at night. Mine dunk themselves at night sometimes. When they were here in the house I could hear the plop sound they made.

lol if you can stay doubled over! It's only 4 ft high but it doesn't bother the duckies. :-)
yeah they have steps in it. They just don't want to get out of it. Every now and then they will waddle to the food and then go right back to the tub. They will readily go to the big kiddie pool if they are allowed to though.
Sounds like they're safe enough but if you aren't sure you can always put a piece of plywood with a heavy rock on top so the cover doesn't come off.

Thanks MollyD! That sounds like a lot less work than taking it out every night.
loved it!
thanks tf!
That looks good , we are building a place to put ours in now. How old are they ?
BluesH what kind of duck is the brown one , mine are bron' I thought they were black until they got the flood light today.
I'm going to try and build something like yours bluesmaven but temporary so I can move it around the lawn and give them a new spot to feed. Right now it's 38 degrees this morning so no one is going outside!!!
Loved yours btw!
MollyD
The brown one is a female mallard and her name is Aflac. The black one is a black Indian Runner and her/his name is Puddles.
So Indian Runners don't stand up as straight as the hatchery pictures imply then? Puddles looks much more natural in her stance.
MollyD
yeah she does both but when she runs she runs straight. It's so funny to watch them run. All I have to do is walk fast and they run after me. I don't do it often because Puddles will run right over Aflac. Poor baby Aflac!
Does anyone know if it is legal to raise chickens in the philadelphia suburbs? or where I need to go to find out?
