For some reason, I decided to go to Butchart Gardens this morning. It was a beautiful morning, not too hot, and the sky was blue and it was just a great day. And of course I took tons of pictures. Hope I don't bore you! It is just getting to the end of the tulips, some of them were still lovely, some starting to get a bit ragged, but beautiful none the less.

Sunday Trip to Butchart Gardens!
Well, I guess that should give all of you a taste of Butchart today. Hope you enjoy the photos.
Glenda
Well, Glenda, that was a REAL treat! Thanks for posting all the lovely pics. The pink tulips above a bed of forget-me-nots was enchanting.
Sandy
Thanks Sandy. Butchart makes extensive use of the forget-me-nots under tulips. It really is stunning in some of the displays.
Glenda, great photo of the sunken garden. Were there lots of humming birds around the rhodo's? And those flowers in photo #21, wow, what ever they are, they're going on my want list!
Linda
Linda, I didn't see or hear one hummingbird. There are a few around the yard here though. Yes,I looked it up, and that flower is a corydalis. I tried to grow one a couple of years ago and of course it croaked one me!! Might have to try it again. Of course, I always have to remember the darn deer that keep going through!!!
Glenda, wonderful pictures of Butchart Gardens! A real breath of spring. The tiny deer is adorable; too bad they grow up and eat every thing in sight. :)
Joanne
Glenda, I visited B.C. and the Butchart Gardens in the fall so these spring pictues were a great treat. Thank you
Thank you for sharing all of that spring cheer with us Glenda. It's been many years since I've been to Butchart Gardens.
Thanks for posting the lovely pictures. It makes me want to visit Butchart Gardens again. I haven't been there in YEARS!
Teresa, you can buy an annual pass for 50.00, and that lets you in as much as you want all year. It's a very good deal for locals. If you decide to go sometime, we shoudl meet and have coffee!!
Glenda
So lovely I was there two years ago would love to go in the spring. Enjoyed the pictures of the hummer they are so different from the ones we get in Florida. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
That would be fun, Glenda, although you are so much closer. I'm way out past the Western Communities.
By the way, I can't rememer the name of your #21 pic, but I call it "Blue Fish" because they really do look like blue fish! LOL!
#21 is definitely Corydalis. I looked it up in the little book that Butchart gives you when you go in.
If you are ever going to go to Butchart, just give me a call!!!
What would those #5's be? I really like them, and I know I've seen them before, I'm pretty sure anyway - but not in that colour, just in white and an orangey-pink.
Is it a bush kind of thing, or flowers? The thing I'm thinking of is a bush.
TIA,
~m
Cyber, those are rhodendrons, and yes, they are a bush, although I have seen some varieties grown to ten feet tall, close to a house. Out here, there are lots of varieties and colours. I have friends who have a red one that flowers close to Xmas. Here's one of mine in 2005. The shot is not that great, but the red in this rhodo is gorgeous.
