Gardening with dogs

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I am involved in Siberian Husky rescue. We have a hotwire encircling our back yard, so of course, anything must not grow along the fence that is taller than about a foot high. We have pretty much turned the back yard over to the dogs. I have a few plants there, but all are plants that are gifts or passalongs. Nothing I spent $$ on. I do have one little book on Gardening with Dogs but huskies are very tough on plants. I have fenced off my patio with iron fencing and a planter box(3 sides are enclosed by the house) and it is quite nice. If anyone has experience with gardening with large dogs (any age - I get all ages) I'd like to hear about it.
