Blech!

I was out wandering the garden early this morning when I discovered the fennel or dill that I got into the ground a few days ago had been decimated and the munchers were still there covering the remaining stubs. I was thrilled!!! Until I got close enough to see that they weren't cats, they were slugs!!!! Grrrrrrrrr!

I feel for you. I have suffered alot over the last few weeks from slugs.

Since we have had an over abundance of rain this month, the slugs have been out with a vengance. I am trying to decide what to do because they are eating everything in sight. Would diatomaceous earth be harmful to catepillars and butterflies? My other, more expensive choice is Escar-Go from Garden Alive - its an iron phosphate product that is not supposed to hurt other insects. Escar-Go is the organic choice.

Maybe it's an old folktale, but I thought a shallow plate with beer in it attracted slugs overnight, and you only need dispose of them in the morning. . .
