A beautiful flower, other colors available?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

This is an Allium.
I have never seen these before, a beautiful flower started as a bulb last October. Does anyone know if these come in any different colors?
Thanks
Vicki

I have white ones in my garden. I've never seen them in anything but white and purple - doesn't mean they don't come in other colors, just I've never seen them.

How tall are yours?

PlantFiles has a pretty redish one here:

It's definitely allium, you already knew that. They also come in some interesting shapes.

little globes. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/5875/

Welcome got2bgreen!! Has anybody grown any of these in less than a lot of sun?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I've got three purple sensation in what is at best partial sun and they're blooming. This is my first year trying them, and I'm pretty happy so far. Like everything else, they were slow to get started. I think they liked this hot weather, as they're now all opening. Some, I think aflatunense , are not liking partial sun too much. Or, the bulbs I got weren't very good. About half of them didn't come up.

This is a pink allium moly. They are short but very cute.

I have been growing these from seed the last few years. They germinate readily, but I have trouble keeping them alive beyond the seedling stage. Anyone else grow these from Seed?

I got my alliums mixed up. The one that isn't doing too well for me is atropurpureum, not aflatunense....sorry if this caused any confusion....

allium moly comes in yellow, I really love it. Also hairy allium is really neat and make you laugh when you look at it. Allium is also good to help keep the deer away.

Different allium species flower in white, green (e.g. Allium 'Hair'), all shades of purple from very light mauve to almost black, pink, yellow, and blue... hope that helps!

Oh, and I forgot about the A. flavum var. tauricum selections in various shades of orange to rusty tones.
