Smart Media Camera card

A few years ago, I purchased several Olympus cameras. They used the thin Smart Media card to store the pictures. Lately, I have noticed that the first few pictures on a few cards will not show in preview. They will tranfer, but no preview. I looked at the card and notice that it looks like there is wear on the card. Has anyone else had this problem?, Any suggestion?
