Bulb ID please Crinum Amaryllis?

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

I went back to a past garden of mine, it has pretty much gone wild as the owner is not a agrdener, but she graciously let me "take whatever you want". At one time I had a large clump of crinums on one side of a bed near a pond and a large clump of orange Amaryllis on the other. The pond and the crinum is gone, but the amaryllis is still there (I got some seeds!) Now I found these growing somewhere in between. I may have moved these there, but I can't tell which they are. I'm thinking crinum, beacause the straps are about 4 feet long. But the amaryllis had gotten pretty big as well. I feel absolutely foolish, but is there any way I can tell which this is just by looking?
I was told this would be the place to ask!
Thanks so much

I have both crinums and amaryllis. From the pics, I'd say this is a crinum. I'm far from being an expert, just like playing in the dirt. :O)
At least you were able to get it from your old garden. I have been told not to ever go by your old house as it will not be the same. Very true. They took out all my flower beds. I almost cried, then angry. When they bought our house, I said I was taking some of my plants with me. The girl's mother had an absolute hissy fit and told me I better not. They wanted all the plants. Sure they did so they could tear all the beds out. Sad!!!
Hopefully someone that is an exper will see your post.

Oh Lynn,
That is such a shame! People get so into "owning" things whether they want them or not, it's just like my 2 year old "Mine, Mine, Mine!" To me sharing my garden is as much fun as growing it. What did you have in your old garden?
I would love to get this IDd, but if not, LOL I'll find out one day! I may have some hybrid of the 2 and that would be fine as well. I wonder what a pink and white crinum and an orange amaryllis would produce?

I agree with Joey. Between the two possibilities you've mentioned, the photo is a crinum. You'll need to post photos if you want to know what type crinum or amaryllis you've got once they come into bloom.

Oh I thought an expert could tell the color? LOL I'm kidding, I think the sun got to me today :~)
Thank you so much for your help. Whenever I get some blooms I will need help Identifying these. I've had this particular crinum for over 20 years. It was given to me by a neighbor who is the first to really get me into gardening when I was in college. I have another given to me recently that has distincly different leaves, and yet another that I dug from my Grandmothers home place. And I have no idea what any of them are, but I love them anyway! Thanks again for the help!

It is a crinium, I just planted a bunch of them this past week. Amaryllis are slightly different.

We had a half acre lot at the old house. I had my pride and joy rose bed, various cannas, lots of perrenials, EE's, glads, Iris and such. All gone.
I really started serious gardening in 88 when we built our current home on 6 acres. I like unusual plants and tropicals and that's how I started getting varieties of Crinum.
I think your crinum is a white spider. They were popular in old gardens. Now watch, it'll be pink.
Take care
Lynn
