Begonia ID please

Orlando, FL

I got this huge (put a baby in it bucket) full of Angel Wing Begonias. I was hoping to find out which one it is. I think it looks more like the Sophia Cicele...not sure I spelled that right. I paid $5.00 for it at a yard sale. I am sure I got a deal. It has lots of new shoots were she took cuttings before she sold it. Any help or care suggestions would be appreciated. I put it in a spot very similar to were she had it. I want to keep it happy.

Hi Moofiepoo. What a bargain! I don't know which one it is but it sure is gorgeous. I'm doing a happy dance for you.

Cindy this was the best yard sale I have ever been to. I spent 34 bucks. Got angel wing begonia, huge staghorn fern, 3 foot wide rabbits tail fern, Sweetheart hoya, un named hoya, 20 or more red amaryllis bulbs, 15 peach or orange amaryllis bulbs, 4 blanket flowers, cuttings of orchids and easter cactus and about 100 naked ladies bulbs...at least that is what we think they are. We will find out when they bloom for us. Oh and a 14 inch pot of bromeliads...No idea which ones yet. But it is blooming and I am looking to identify it. That was my Mothers Day present. The people were moving to Texas and wanted everything gone. So they let it go for almost nothing. They sold a staghorn fern that would barely fit in the back of a pickup truck for 40 dollars....would have cost about 500 dollars if they had time to sale them. Tonight is the last night in the house for them.

Thanks for the happy dance. I am still excited and have had them a week now.

Youve got 2 maybe 3 different varieties of cane begonia in there. That solid one looks like irene nuss one looks like sophie cecile andthe one in the way back looks like littlemiss mummy or something else. these are just guesses though

So far 3 have bloomed. One is Sophie Cecile.....same as my granny had...YEAH. That is what I was hoping for. I still have to look up the other one. I think only 2 in there. But still not sure. I think now that they are starting to bloom, I will be able to figure it out a bit. Thanks a bunch.

I did not think to take a picture of the other ones flowers....They are creamy colored and muted into a pink flower. But not the same flower as the other one. Very pretty.

Thanks again.

Oh, I love your begonia called Sophie Cecile, very pretty: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/59884/ You should consider uploading a photo to Plant files.

That one that I see peeking out of the bottom left of the pot looks like one I have that someone on DG ID'd as Begonia 'Benigo': http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/132902/

I may be waaay off though ... I'm not very good at Identifying from pictures, LOL. Sometimes they all look alike to me.

Boo hoo, I'm so jealous. I've had 'Sophie Cecile' for ever, seems like, but she has never bloomed for me. It has been noted that she is a "reluctant bloomer". Maybe she just prefers southern latitudes. BTW, 'Sophie Cecile' is one of the Superba angel wings, characterized by very large, deeply incised leaves. 'Benigo' (not a Superba type) has smaller leaves, dots, rather than splotches. Both have the red underside. Nice picture, plantladylin, and a fine example of 'Benigo' .
