Greetings,
I stopped by my local Canadian Tire store's garden centre this afternoon. The Hostas were close to the entrance and I had encountered a previous post (I think on Hallson's list) about infected plants being sold at a Quebec CT store. Well, I would venture to say that ALL of the Gold Standards at my CT are infected with HVX. I brought it to the attention of the manager and he seemed to appreciate it. Will he do anything? I guess time will tell.

HVX in Hostas at Canadian Tire
My guess Ann is not. The same thing has happened here at one of the local CT for 2 years running. They pass it off as if I am a crazy lady. Feel bad for the public who DO buy these plants but can't think about too much else I can do other than calling the news and that's going to get gardeners in this area nowhere either.
D
What I DID do was to send a note out to a contact in the Ottawa Horticultural Society and the email warning was sent out to all members before the day was over yesterday. But, as you say, the general public who buy these plants not knowing anything is the problem.
What is HVX?
Sorry. Forgot this wasn't on the Hosta Forum. It's Hosta Virus X
