I just watered my plants and took another photo of my Sunlit Sugar Plum. I love her, she is gorgeous and doing so well.
She is 16" wide now. I am going to show the new photo, then an older photo.
My Favorite Sunlit Sugar Plum AGAIN
Sally that has got to be one of the most amazingly beautiful av's ever! So symetrical too..looks like a show plant^_^
Wow, Sally, she is just beautiful and getting BIG!
Remember the leaves you gave to me of her. They are growing and the one behind her in this picture is Wrangler's Spanish Cavalier that I sold at the Mother's Day Sale. Now we will share her when the time comes.
I am not ever growing for a May sale again. The month is too busy for me with grandchildren and all their end of school events, but I will like the February show and sale.
Look at the wasps. Two are just growing away in nothing but perlite and vermiculite as I am waaay behind in potting up!
OH, wonderful Gail. That one I like is Spanish Wrangler. You found the name? So good. I have to more Sunlit Sugar Plum leaves going also. Doing well. Glad yours is so fat and happy! I have to have back ups with that one!
Gail, that sale was so wonderful, but I sure understand the work you did. SO many wonderful plants that day. I wanted some but I controlled myself for the first time.
Can you believe that I did not buy one plant, Sally! Marjorie and I traded two streps but that was all that I brought home.
WOW! That is hard to believe! ha. I hope the people that bought all the pretty plants will care for them.
In February a lot of buyers are real good growers, but the Mother's Day sale are bought by people who just enjoy them while they bloom and then throw them away................sad but true............
NO!!! Well, I think you are right. I think that is sad, but it is OK, it will make lots of people happy for a while for sure!
Oh My Goodness ... Sunlit Sugarplum is AMAZING! I LOVE it ... really, really Beautiful AV.
Great Growing Sally!
We will try and remember to save you a baby when they get separated and grow just a little .................Lin
Maybe next year Gail ... I don't think I will be ready for any more plants until then. LOL. I keep saying I am going to Downsize!
I can't even give my plants away (LOL)...............never ever am I going to grow from leaf again ...................................no place to even put them...............next year sounds good to me, too!!!!!!!!
I think a few of us are in the same boat Gail. I have never considered myself to be obsessive compulsive and I don't have a lot of Gesneriads, just a lot of house plants in general ... it's getting to be an obsession and I need to reign myself in! LOL.
Good luck with that Lin...if you find a magic cure please make sure and let the rest of us crazys know about it..I think we could all use a little help..LOL
LOL Nancy ... You are a lot younger than I am! In the next 10 years I am going to definitely be downsizing! My DH is talking about retiring in another 5 years and we plan on selling the house and buying a townhouse and traveling, so I won't have a lot of time for plants! And, if we are gone a lot, they would not survive. Whether we are on a boat traveling the waterways or a large motor home traveling the roadways I will have to have at least one plant traveling with me (probably two or three!) but everything else is going to be finding new homes at that time!
You have more energy than I do , Lin! I have some real good friends who travel in their motor home all over the US. They even came down to the beach here and I got to visit with them for a couple of days. I hadn't seen them in over 15 years.
But, I could never ever do that for very long. I admire your spunk in wanting to do it!
Sally Great plant I love the vaiagation I have been loosing all mine the color on the leaves and being the No Name plant Queen I don't know what is what
I am off work other day I am going to be broke soon with buying plants LOL I might have to sell my blood for the Addiction
Lin with me working on the Tollway I see lots of Trucks and think maybe when I grow up I will be a truck driver ( I swear like one on some days) But I can see inside of the trucks and I have seen lots of women drivers but this one driver had 3 tears( SP) basket that you put fruit and vegies in put she had them fill with plants I thought that was pretty cool . and the Motor homes have lots of windows LOL you can keep alot of your plants. I am sure your DH will love it ^_^
Dimmer
Wow, Lin - I can't imagine you without a slew of plants. I think of traveling but never go very long because I just can't leave my darling doggers, although they are getting up there in years. I don't plan on getting anymore dogs just so I can travel, but I don't know if I can give up my plants, too...

Jackie:
We have 4 old cats at present and at some point in time when they are no longer around we will possibly adopt another dog. By the time my DH retires we will more than likely be down to one kitty. Or they may very well all be gone at that point in time. We haven't had a dog in many years and I sure miss it and keep saying as soon as some of the old cats are gone to kitty heaven we will have a dog in the family again. Just don't think we could do it right now.
Lin I like Dimmers idea of the tiered baskets hanging from your motor home windows! Won't be enough room for nearly the plants you have now, but you could sure have a few of your favorites that way!!
We have two little dogs and they are great travelers! You'll enjoy one to fill your heart when the kitties have lived their full and happy lives!
~Brenda
Yes, I Love that idea too. Right now the plan is when hubby retires we will have a townhouse/condo as home base and a large trawler that we will be traveling the waterways with. I will definitely have at least three or four plants on board the boat! They would have to be hanging so as not to go sliding around in rough seas! I guess if they are hanging, they would sway and rock with the boat but not go flying about! LOL. If it ends up being a motor home at some point I would have a few plants traveling the roadways with us too! I can't imagine living without at least one green living plant and a pet or two! I'm glad my DH feels the same! I might even have to figure a way to have a small palm tree to take Florida with us wherever we go! I'm thinking while underway in the boat I could wrap the pot in saran wrap and tightly wind it over top the soil to keep from spilling if it did sway too far to one side or other! ^_^ I never thought of that until we brought those two palm's from home depot yesterday ... the little lady who waited on us said she had just wrapped a palm for a customer the day before ... kept the soil intact with them lying down in the back of my husband's truck! I think it would work on a boat too! If the plant fell over it would not get soil all over everywhere!
Susan: Wow! What a Plant Stand! I saw something like that at our Sam's one time. I think they sell them as storage units for restaurant supplies! They make great plant stands! Can't wait to see yours all set up with the lights and all of your beautiful plants decorating it.
So Gail, how long are you going to be gone visiting family? Sure hope you will get a chance to pop in once in awhile!
Well, I hope everyone is having a great Saturday. I'm heading back outside to "play" ... See y'all later!
Sally ~ Tell me where I can get one of these. It is beautiful. What color are the blooms...
In the first picture, it shows the blooms. They are two tone purple. I bought it at the AV show the club I belong to had this spring. A lady named Jo had one. Jo's violets. Here is her link.

Thanks Sally
Jo has some outstanding cultivars of African violets and she is not nearly as expensive as other vendors. I buy most all of mine from her.
Hi every one how's your weekend going.
I would love to find where I can find AV seeds I have looked all over the internet for some. Does any one know where I can go to order some? Thank You
waiting for someone else to come along and answer. Most of us who like to grow by seed belong the Gesneriad Society and the AVSA. I am not positive but I think you can get seed from both of them.
