Anybody seen these little nasties yet

I haven't seen them yet about 20 miles north of H-town. Well at least they eat fire ants!

Yikes! I hope I don't get those, even if they do eat the fire ants. I don't have that many fire ants and those sound like they're just as bad or even worse!

Yikes is right. These things sound far worse than fire ants. I hope they stay far far far FAR away from the Dallas area. Eek!!

I had my first encounter with them last year. So they are spreading very quickly – 120 miles in 6 years. It doesn't sound like much, but that probably 120 miles in all directions. These little guys are harder to trace back to their entry point. In the house, they seem to be after water and sugar. They started showing up again about a week ago. I can attest to the fact that they do bite. Using my computer has become a biting experience.

Well, I dunno about these ants, but we've had fire ants take out our a/c twice in the last three years. Something about the electromagnetism in the capacitators. (Can you tell I'm not an electrical engineer?)

Wow already in La Grange! I guess it's only a matter of time before they get here. I have leaf cutters in my back yard and just found my firsy bed of fire ants under a hibiscus pot today. Much as I hate fire ants, I guess it's more of "the devil you know than the devil you don't"

LOL capacictator is better than I could do, I just call them those humming thingies!

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

never seen them here

Houston, TX

Haven't seen them here .... Yet.

So the big question is: How to control the little buggers? I wonder if they are susceptible to cinnamon, too.

Joey in Conroe, TX(Zone 8b)

I wonder if nematodes will work? I'm trying them this year and so far so good on the fire ants. Either its that or the leaf cutters working because I have fewer than normal.

Missouri City, TX

I thought I had fire ants in my compost/mulch pile, but now I'll bet they are the "crazy ants". I was covered from the knees down, but did not get bit when I was bagging some for a friend.

Still shucked pants, shoes and socks really quickly, and hosed off the remainders - glad I have a tall fence - lol.
