Let's make a thread just for birdie bath time. :)
Bathing Beauties
Ha ha ha... I love the splatter on the fence. What a great subject for a thread.
Cute shot Sybil..what kind of bird is that?
I watched the bird bath all day and all my little birds are dirty as I never saw one take a bath!! I am hoping someone will tomorrow so I can post to this fun thread! Thanks for starting it!
That is an Oriole.
Remember, in your bird baths, to place a rock of some object that the birds can land on, hop to, sit on ...they don't like to just plop into a body of water unless they are water birds.
dell - this rose from your thread... you had the idea!!! :)
Thanks Sybil...I should have known it was an Oriole but I'm on Oriole Overload right now! LOL! It has been raining like crazy all morning long..no bird bath shots today! If the sun comes out later possibly some shots in the back yard that is now a lake!!
Cute shots Murmur!
the little bird baths don't need a rock or anything. The birds seem to know the depth is okay.
Just seeing your fence tells the whole story!!!
LOL..the fence does tell the story! I love that birdbath pic Sybil!
this crow was going nuts bathing in a big puddle in a parking lot
That's 'cos he's a Starling ;-)

Oh, well. Just one of those oops.
Love the pics, they're too funny!! I'll have to be on the look out for bathing beauties here too.
LOL - That'll do GM!
Cute one GM!
Looks like that Titmouse would like some privacy! I had to search to find him...her? Anyway I love that game!
Nice pics everyone! Murmur,I love the Starling shots!
oh, very cute!!!
That is so unbearably cute!! I love the CW! Great shots!
He was having a great time rolling in the dirt
And doing a real contortionist job in that first pic - lying on his back, but notice that his tail is the 'right' way up! So his body is twisted right through close to 180°.

Ouch!!! I just had cervical fusion surgery and that wren thought just makes me cringe!!!
I'm glad you posted these photos Lin. I saw basically the same thing the other day. Some sparrows "bathing" in the dirt. They'd made a little "divit" looking indentation in some sandy soil. They all took turns waddling in it.
My photos aren't as close as yours because I took these from across the street.

Those dirt bath pics are adorable!!!
Love the dirt baths... There a spot near our driveway that the sparrows "bathe".
I believe they do it to get rid of mites.
Yipeee! My MIL just gave me her birdbath so hope to get some pics soon!
I can't wait to see your pics! :)
That must be a cold bath up in MA!! Cute catch!
