cucumber help needed

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I started my seeds off a bit early and they aren't hardened off yet... I was going to start putting them out this week and I see some cucs forming.... is this a bad thing or a good thing?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Blooming in pots isn't good. Chances are, your plant will be stressed. You're in NJ and cukes will do fine direct seeded. They don't call it the Garden State for nothing.

I have them in cow pots so they won't be disturbed when planting time rolls around.... still think it's a problem?

I'd pinch off the blooms personally. The plants need to settle in before trying to set fruit.

Others may have a different take on things, but generally, cucurbits need to be established before setting fruit.

ok thanks for the adivce

Try to plant both your starts and direct sow a few. I think you will be surprised at the end of the season.

that was my idea too... figured if anything i have two flush of crops... or just one from the direct sow.. win win
