Salvia Splendens ?

I went to a plant sale today and purchased some lil plants with red flowers. the hand writen tag says "Salvia Splendens" and something that looks like "Hotling" and maybe a "W" after that.

the guy [who really couldnt answer any questions i asked] told me they were perennials, and they were in the Perennial section.

but now -- as i 'search' for inf on it ... I'm seeing annual, where i thought it was hardy zone 5-9.

anyone know anything about this plant?

Thanks missingrosie --- does seem every link i check, it says Annual.
I'll hope for the best, and if they are annuals -- I only spent 1.75 for 5 plants.

But -- thanks for id'ing it as "Hotline" that did help.

Well worth your $$ - it will bloom til frost.
