Beavertail Cactus
Opuntia basilaris
New growth in May
Beavertail Cactus (Opuntia basilaris)
Hi, This plant is not O. basilaris, but most likely is a near-spineless selection of O. debreczyi, which is from further north than O. basilaris in nature. It could also be a garden hybrid involving O. fragilis or O. debreczyi as a parent.
Have you seen it flower? I could have flowers of any color (yellow through magenta), and will almost certainly have green stigmata.
