First plumeria potted. Now what?

New Orleans, LA(Zone 9a)

OK. I received my first plumeria cutting 2 days ago. It's a 14", 3 tip Kauka Wilder. It's been potted in a 50/50 mixture of perlite & potting soil. The temps outside are mid/high 80's during the day, & low 70's at night, so it's outside where it receives full sun.

Now what?

I know to only water it about once a week or so. Do I just let it sit there? How long before I see any signs of growth - leaves?

jo-ann, ignore it, it should root for you

You've got some great heat going for your cutting so I bet it will root just fine for you. Keep the soil moist and mist with the hose when you can. You'll see leaves when it is starting to root. You should have a full root ball in about 90 days.

i have mine in part shade all day because i am afraid alll sun is too much so soon--but maybe i should move it out there now? it has a few leaves starting

Planolinda, that hot Texas sun can cause sunburn if a plumeria is not acclimated to full sun, but you can acclimate it by gradually giving it more sun. Full sun is best for blooming, but you may need to water more often due to your heat there in Texas. It is not a bad idea to give it some shade during the hottest part of the day if you feel that is necessary. I know that some people in hot regions like Arizona use shade cloths in some cases. It really just depends upon what your climate is like in terms of heat and humidity.

thank you--that was my plan-to gradually move it out to full sun and you just made me feel more secure about that
