full sun runner suggestions needed

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

SAWS had a water main break in front of my house. They came and plowed in a two year project bed with irises, three kinds of mint, and many others. They left me with soil only. Any suggestions for a nice runner to fill in the area? I haven't the heart to replant it the way I had it.

I am sorry you had that problem, but since you might want to plant some flowers later on, why not just mulch it heavily for right now and let the soil heal itself and get better.
Then when you are up to it, you will have improved soil for a lovely new bed.
But if you don't want to do that, you could plant Frogfruit, Phyla nodiflora, it is a native groundcover that works in sun or shade.

This plant is a larval food host for the White Peacock and the Phaon Crescent butterflies.
Good luck with your project.
Josephine.
