Has anyone here grown this?
I have heard it can be tricky, and likes lots of dry heat..I ordered a plant and picked up a coco fober basket to put it in. Any advice on what subtrate to use?
Thanks!

I have grown this a few years... unsuccessfully I might add. It seems to fade out in the heat and humidity in this area. I do still love the fragrance and blooms. I hate to offer advice with my track record ~ sorry... would love to overwinter it just once!
Good luck, it is a lovely plant. Please post your experience with it down the road.
Thanks for your response!
We don't have the heat, but we do have the humidity here..and I really doubt I will be able to overwinter it here..but I thought that maybe putting it in coco-fibver-lined basket with some rain protection from an eave of the house would at least help it stayed drained.
I also read that it likes chalk, so I was thinking over crushing some up in the soil.
Chalk? That is interesting... The only soil base I have heard that is not recommended is clay of course.
I was told it would be perennial in zone 6 or warmer which is why I was hoping to overwinter but can't get thru the summer. One reference say hardy to 15 degrees. Perhaps you could provide winter protection? I would have to should it make it thru a summer.
The photo I posted was taken in June. By August, it was crispy.
It's a beautiful plant.
I'm not familiar with this plant. Is it like a vine? The photo looked kind of like one. It reminded me of bouganvilla, (which I can't spell). I'll look it up. Maybe I could try it here. It is very dry most of the time. It would have to winter indoors, though.
O.K. I looked it up. Like an oregano, blooms like hops, cascades. Reminds me of marjoram, too. It might grow here in the summer. I sure get tired of things that have to be brought inside, though. Interesting plant.
