Well Darnnit ... I've lost the thread where someone said they grew herbs from cuttings, to keep them true. Can that be done for most herbs?
Growing Herbs from cuttings??
I would think with most perennial herbs it would work. It's the only way with french tarragon.Any plant that is varigated.Had good luck with rosemary, scented geraniums, bay laurel, lemon verbena. What herbs are you thinking about trying?Edge
Yes, indeed! Basil cuttings even root very cooperatively in a glass of water. Most others do better when stuck in moist potting mix with a dome or baggie to hold in a little extra humidity until they root.
No article (yet, LOL), but here's a thread where I summarized some info on growing scented geraniums and others from cuttings: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/597232/
Edge, I was thinking about basil, sage, or just any that I could make more cuttings with. Oh...I had forgotten about french tarragon ... That'll be next on my list. ;)
Critterologist, I think I skimmed thru the list of your articles while my question was uploading. Thanks for the link...I'll check again.
I really hate that Tom DeBaggio's "little book" has gone out of print... ordinarily, I'd just tell you to order that, because it has everything you need to know! Spoke to his son recently when we went down to the greenhouse, and he said they're in the process of looking for a new publisher.
Is it this book, critterologist?
