I went out this evening so excited that my pond is abloom and that the fish are active. We are finally having average highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. It won't be long now, hopefully!
So tonight while I fed the fish, I took lots of pics. Please share yours with me too!
Show some Spring pictures!
Looking Great you two!! Mine is a mess. My barrel water fall fell apart, the UV light went on the fritz and my submersible pump has gone bad. I am off to the store today to get all new stuff. It will be expensive ponding today☻
Dragonfly I would love to help you get rid of those parrot's feather. I have a new pond wich by the way broke my pockets. So I am going to resort to charity and give aways for plants and stuff for the new pond.
I recently was asked what did I want for mother's day, I said cash. And we all know what I will buy with that cash. (wink wink). Didnt want to ask for a HD or Lowes gift card, because that would have left me out in the open about my secret addiction. :o)

Dulci, Do you have koi in your pond. If you do they will eat it all and it really wouldn't do any good to send it. If not I will send you a start but you have to watch it. It grows in a hurry so don't want it to strangle everything. If you want a start just send me your addy OK? BEV
I would like some parrots feather if you have any to spare. I really like it and cannot seem to find any here. I have two small ponds with a stream that appears to connect the two. The upper pond has five koi in it and the lower one has some gold fish. There are little pools between the three small waterfalls. Do you think the parrots feather would grown in one of those?
Tetly send me a dmail with your addy and I will send you a start. BEV
Dragonfly you have d-mail! :^)
FYI. My neighbor has a huge pond and it became totally covered with parrot feather this winter. She has at least 150 koi and they sure didn't eat it. Anyway, she put it on Craig's List and a guy came with buckets and buckets and paid her $75. for it. Said he was putting it in a stock pond. It is illegal in Texas and many other states as it is like Kudzu in the water. Extremely invasive. The Texas Parks And Wildlife asks that you report anywhere it is seen. Not gonna report my neighbor. I am sorry he is putting it "in the wild". The birds will carry it everywhere.

Thank you Bev!
I have about 7 Goldfish in the pond. Will they eat it? I will get what you can get me.
I will d-mail u my address. Send me your addy as well so I can send you some post stamps.

I really like the blue paint you used on the bench, 'Fish Knees'!
Looks like the same color on a mirror (?) in the background and a brain-like orb near your stream. . .
It shows up as a sort of periwinkle/lavender blue on my monitor--lovely color.

Oh wowowwowow Rose! Sooo gorgeous! Makes me really sad I live in zn 5 when I see that. I could look at your pond pics all day long. Great looking brugs!
Everyone's ponds look great...seems like the everyones waking up! Keep em coming.
Posy, I sure hope you get everything figured out...that sounds expensive!
Hey thanks Art n, except for the intence heat...we've got it pretty good down here. Yeah those Brugs are really
something, and they had been cut back and thinned shortly before that photo(!!) happy buggers! Well they are cheating a little bit too, see there roots have grown up and out of the ground and and have root of shoots growning over the rocks and into the water fall(!!) Yummy yummy fishy water! (better than a drip system of miracle grow) And here's the funny part, the Koi actually eat the spent bloom when they fall, and with no ill effects or funny stuff...go figure.
Oh and Posy, we feel fo ya! Had a similar stacking up of bad pond events just 2 yrs ago after re-doing our's and
enlarging it, (and after spending all that "coin" on the new big liner, much more rocks, an additional pump...) lost submersible pump,(the older one) had serious fish issues,(lost most!) bought a big new UV to help that and other things, then had a Crane visit(!!) there went many of the newer ones...But we eventually dug ourselves out of that hole.
Anyway, good luck, Happy Ponding, Terry. ( oh, "Flash" is a Cutie! )
Oh man... I should avoid this thread. TOO many awesome pictures that just tease me into wanting a pond! I had a little "pond" several years ago (before moving, grad school, remarrying .. yatta, yatta!) I had a large horse trough, I build a platform and added a barrel for a water fall. It was very relaxing and surprising attractive! I had a arch trellis over it and clematis on 3 sides of the enclosure on 6 foot chain link fence.
I had 13 fish, all named... *sigh*, the park manager here would have a cow if I put in a pond.
I think you should put in a small water feature. They are really nice and invite all kinds of interesting critters into the yard to enjoy as well. It would not have to be that big to make an impact.
And did you say cow?? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/technology/technology.html?in_article_id=565909&in_page_id=1965
wow Beahive, I love all the blue shusuis you have!
psychw3....I bought a very large firepit, painted the inside to seal it, and added a few goldfish and water plants......Maybe you can get away with something like that?
Beahive, how do you keep your water so crystal clear? Looks so good. I showed this threat to my husband and he asked me how come ours is not as clear. I have to stop him from wanting to clean it as if it was a fishtank. LOL
I just did a full pond clean out recently, so that is why everything looks so clear. I do use a product called Aqua-one weekly. Having lots of plants, not over feeding your fish also helps. During the summer I use my pond vac twice a month to get extra sludge off the bottom and I have even taken a designated toilet brush (for pond only!) to the larger rocks to scub off some of the build up. I keep barley straw in the pond and it helps with algea..not a cure ..but it helps keep it managable.

Nice crimson! I am far from seen one bloom in my pond. I've killed two water lily tubers I got on a trade and one that I bought. I am having better luck with the Lotus. But no blooms yet.
Great pictures yall!
I'm a little sad this weekend...something happened in the pond and 8 fish have mysteriously disappeared, including my 3 biggest koi. I'm thinking a heron or raccoon. Only the slate that were on top of my fountain (in the middle of the pond) were moved, nothing else was disturbed. Haven't found any bodies either...and the rest of the fish are super skiddish now. Sigh.
