My best friend desperately wants a rhubarb plant that will bear THIS year (She lives outside of Atlanta GA). Does anyone have a start I can trade my pink lilies or/and purple liatris for a start? I will ask you to mail the start direct to her, and I will mail the flowers to you. Let me know! Thanks.

I think if you get a plant this year it should rest because of transplant shock. I am in a zone colder and the plants here are all huge and in the picking stage already.

Our Rhubard is almost ready for first harvesting but I'll check the patch this weekend and see if there's any smaller growth. I'll let you know Monday. I dug up, and transplanted into a pot, some Bleeding Heart (for a trade) last weekend and it didn't even wilt --- so perhaps I shall be 'lucky' with the rhubarb also...

Waiting til the 18th is even better---that way I WILL dig/pot a rhubarb start this weekend and I'll know whether it'll be a success before I send. Would the purple Liatris be hardy in my zone?

edited to add: YEAH!!! The purple Liatris is hardy in my zone :) I hardly have any purple except for my Malva Zebrina...
