Trip to South Florida - Need help

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm going to South Florida in a few weeks and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as where to go. I'm looking for a Botanical Garden with lots of Tropicals. I'll be starting at Savannah Ga working my way down to Key Largo.

Fairchild Gardens in Coral Gables should be top of your list.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I suggest that you check out Harry P. Leu Garden in Orlando.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

I agree with DutchLady - we visited Fairchild a few weeks ago and it was very nice.

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

Check Dave's, Go Gardening, http://davesgarden.com/products/go/advanced.php?search_text=Miami

Palm Hammock Orchid Estate http://www.palmhammockorchidest.com/

Another thing I do - buy a map. Look for the green colored spaces on the map, usually parks or other public spaces, they are always interesting. Look on the map for 'Points of Interest'

Ask the volunteers at Fairchild about their favorites (You have to go to Fairchild!)

This place is just north of Fairchild on the coast>

If you haven't already, go to the Florida Forum and post your question about the local sites.

I agree with everyone else that Fairchild is a must see. Have fun!

Sarasota, FL

I highly recommend The Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead, Fl. after visiting Fairchild Tropical Gardens
