Best store-bought potting mix?

Belgium, WI(Zone 5a)

I know a lot of people here make their own potting mix, but it's just not practical for me. What is the preferred purchased potting mix around here for non-specialized containers (i.e., I'm not talking about orchids or succulents or something that would need a specific mix)? Pro-Mix? Miracle Grow? Miracle Grow Organic? Something else?

Thanks!

I prefer the Fafard mixes. I don't know if they're sold in your area.

Thanks ... I've not heard of that brand but I'll google it and see what I come up with.

In my area Jungle Growth, Miracle-Gro, Sta Green, Pro Mix and a couple of others are available and work very well but Jungle Growth and Sta Green are my favorite mixes.

My favorite is Pro-Mix hands down.

I also use Fafard, after a suggestion from another DGer, and my plants LOVE it. I was buying it at the plant here in Anderson, but they just stopped selling to consumers, so now I have to find a local nursery that carries it.

You may want to give Fertilome a try. I've had much better results with it than with Miracle Gro. Only independent nurseries carry it. Scott's bullies the box stores into carrying only their products.

Since my only choice is to buy from a box store, I've found Miracle Grow as my favorite. I used the kind with water absorbing materials until I bought the crystals in a co-op. Now I buy the regular and add my own, much cheaper.

I like miracle gro too. Moisture control. I use Schultz for specialty stuff, orchid mix, cactus mix.

I've always had a lot of success with miracle gro. I also use Scotts potting mix.

Scotts makes Miracle Gro.
