CLOSED: This little guy fell out of a tree, I need help!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Who is he?.. the winds have been very strong here and he was blown out of the nest.

I tried to put him into a dove nest and the momma there doesn't let me.. she flaps her wings and knocked him out of there.. It then occurred to me that maybe he is not a dove..

there are a lot of sparrows here too, some barn swallows and lots of black birds, and others, but this one can fly just a little and has quite a few feathers for being so small..but no hair/feathers on his head.

I have him in a hanging basket outside with the wave petunias for safety..

Wow, that's quite a beak on the little guy. I hope you can figure out what he is. He's awfully cute, but then all baby birds are cute to me! His beak doesn't look like a dove beak though, so I think momma dove is probably right. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

I'd guess a Cowbird, but nestlings aren't easy!

He sure was a cutie,. I left him out there for a couple of hours and he was gone. I don't know if they came for him or what happened to him.

Then, I found a dove egg the wind had knocked down, so it went into the dove nest.. she's sitting on it now, so I guess that it was alright.

Looks like a little baby cowbird to me too: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=image+of+baby+cowbird&um=1&ie=UTF-8

If it wasn't flying much, it could be on the ground in the bushes somewhere. Hopefully a predator didn't get the cute little thing.

Hey Nancy ... I forgot about them laying eggs in other bird's nests! I'm sure that's what happened ... wonder which mama hatched the little guy.

I'm wondering where he went, he could fly a little, but not enough to disappear completely. I wonder if he survived.. and yes, I read that they lay their eggs in other bird's nests. But they sure do get kicked out early by the wicked stepmother..lol.

I believe if the wicked stepmothers kick them out..lol..their true parents aren't far away..I am sure he is with them again..I had a daddy cardinal bring one of them to the feeder after his real babies were booted from the nest by the little devil..wasn't even a half hour and the real parents came by with their call that sends shivers down my spine..lol...and off he flew happily with them..while daddy cardinal looked on : (
