TB Iris

Zanesville, OH(Zone 6a)

This is my 1st yr. growing iris. I have TB 'Immortality.' What is the best way to cut them & keep them for prolong enjoyment (obviously, I'm new to gardening & cut flowers LOL).

Hi Denise, sorry you haven't gotten an answer yet. I don't have any tall bearded irises, so not sure how they perform as cut flowers. But if you'd like to experiment, I would suggest cutting the stalk at an angle either early morning or evening and let hydrate immediately in water. You can use flower preserve packets to prolong vase life. This link will provide you with other ideas on preserving fresh flowers. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/267953/how_to_preserve_fresh_flowers_.html Happy gardening and floral arranging! By the way, your "immortality" looks so pretty. Hopefully, it will live up to its name even in a vase of water!

Lana,

Come to find out from the iris experts, my TB iris is not 'Immorality' as stated when I bought it from Lowes. Not sure what it is but it smells fantastic! Will have to wait & see if it reblooms. Thanks for the info!

Denise
