I'm still trying to solve my ditch problem -- too much erosion to get the mower on the street side of it and unwilling to do what the county should have done, if you know what I mean. Dichondra is growing at the bottom of the ditch, and it does very well around here. The question is, for the best success in making a "dichondra lawn" on this slope, should I pull up strings of it and transplant? Or should I get seed? Any advice for either? Thanks!
dichondra along the ditch?
We have dichondra growing in the patch of our lawn between the sidewalk and the street. We just decided to leave it because it was green and required less water. I'd say to try runners first. Are you going to buy or collect seed?? Ours has jumped the sidewalk so it apparently does spread by seed.
You can also use Horseherb. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31751/
Thanks, konkreteblond! I looked at both in the plant files, and since the dichondra doesn't get as tall, and as I KNOW it thrives here, I think I'll go for that. All I'll have to do is harvest some of the runners in the backyard!
It seems to be quite hardy so I'm doubting that moving it will hurt it. I'm actually trying to remove it from my front bed now and those runners can really take hold. I'm not complaining tho! I'm thankful it's not nutgrass! Good luck!
