Might not be a good subject to bring to the table.
Our 16 year old Westie is in very poor health. Don't want to take her the vet and go through all the arguments of why I don't want to spend $3000 on tests to determine she is old. Worst is that she is biting every chance she gets. Started about 1 year ago and has gotten worse and worse. Even bites me and DH. When we have guests we have begun to kennel her to protect all concerned. Only occassionaly do we catch her in a mood where we can pet and love her as before. She mostly sleeps. And of course, she has forgotten most of our housetraining even though there is the pet door.
You see what my question is. I can not bring myself to actually "say" it. If the vet would only come here to her bed where she is happy and secure. No trauma and a vet visit is always a trauma. The main reason that we don't take her as we did in the past, which was minimum of twice a year. We have two other dogs and they stay clear of her.
Part of the nature of life is death but it is so hard to be responsible.
