A typical day in my yard

Martinsburg, WV

I am new to the forum and I have been looking at all of your wonderful pictures for a couple of days. To introduce myself I thought I would post some pics showing a typical day in my backyard. I have too many feeders to count at this point. I live in the eastern panhandle of WV. My latest obsession is the Baltimore Oriole. I have oranges, grape jelly, orange streamers and nector out for them but haven't gotten any yet. I hope it isn't too late! I got a little excited today when I saw that all of the oranges had been sampled but I quickly realized it was 3 new Gray Catbirds and not an Oriole. Oh well, at least the Catbirds are new to the yard!

The only guys I haven't gotten a picture of are the Carolina Wrens that I have nesting near the garage.

Welcome, little! I have only been here a couple of weeks, and I'll warn you.......it's addictive! There are some great folks and I have learned a lot already. Great minds, and all that!

You are certainly brave to post pictures first thing. Good job! It took me a while to get up the nerve.

We have Orioles stop by for a brief stay every spring, but this year, they are hanging around a little longer. Maybe, maybe they will nest close by. Ours usually arrive right after the hummingbirds, when the columbines and dogwoods are blooming. Keep your fingers crossed!

I would love to have tree swallows. I know people in my part of MO have them, but I have never even seen one. Lucky you!

Wonderful pic's! Thank you! It seems your territory/zone have the same selection of 'feathers I have. I'm wondering about the hawk...possibly a "sharp-shinned"?

Hi little, Why don't you post that pic in the Bird Identification Forum to get a positive ID from Resin. Heres the link:

Yep, Carolina Chickadee for the chickadee.

Last one I'd say probably Sharp-shinned Hawk, but it is hard to judge on the pic here.
