I had never seen a truly ugly plant, until today. I paid my florist a vist to purchase a plant for a friend. She was showing me what she had and pulled up a fern. At first glance, it was attractive. It was the delicate type (like asparagus). Then, to my horrors, I saw those awful white tentacles. It looked as if a HUGE white tarrantula had burrowed down in the center of the plant and it's legs were suctioned to the pot. They had to be atleast 6-8 inches long and were furry. I said to the girl "What's THAT?" Rabbit's Leg Fern. I know that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I sure hope no one ever gives me one of these. I hope there isn't some poor rabbit out there with legs like this.
Ugly, Creepy plant
Oh, I've never heard of one called Rabbit Legs but the Rabbit's Foot Fern is a very popular house plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54822/
There's also one called Squirrel's Foot Fern: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53037/
And ... I have this one called Kangaroo Paw Fern: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/106932/
I guess I messed up that story. I think you're right. It is Rabbit's foot. I'm really afraid of spiders and that's all I could think of when I looked at that thing.
