CLOSED: Tiny birds in the very tree tops

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, I saw a pair of these birds flying from one tree top to another. They were so small and up so high that I couldn't see them through my camera lens. I just pointed at the part of the tree where I saw them and snapped. Didn't get one good photo, but maybe you bird experts can tell me what I saw from these shots of mostly just parts of the bird!

This photo is clearer, but you can't see his face.

One more. This photo is just awful, but it shows two parts missing in the other two terrible photos. Here is his very yellow chin and a white spot on his tail. This one is kind of like a Where's Waldo or an I Spy game!

Were these birds considerably smaller than a Chickadee? I have been seeing birds like that for over 20 years, never able to get a good picture.

Magnolia Warbler.

Nice one!

Good word Resin, how in the world…!

I have to say ditto to Mrs. Ed's comment. The photos look even worse on this thread than on my computer!

Resin, you amaze me. Thank you.

Trois, I don't see Chickadees around here, so I don't know them well. I see them at my mom's house in South Dakota sometimes. My first thought was that they were smaller than a Chickadee, but I'm always surprised by how small Chickadees are, so they are probably the same size.

Thank you all for looking. I hope I didn't cause temporary blindness with these photos!

Ha Elphaba, I don't mean the photos are bad. I just can't find the birdie in the last two.

Not too difficult, actually! The three pics showing different parts of the bird helped a lot. Also that it's a nice adult male makes things easier.

Pic 1 shows yellow underparts with heavy black flank streaks, black cheeks, and a grey crown. Pic 2 shows the undertail black with a white base, and a white eyebrow. Pic 3 shows a yellow throat. That set gives Magnolia as the only option; other species all differ in some way or another, such as much more white under the tail, white belly, greenish crown, etc.

Now, what is on her mind that she reads Underpants and not underparts.

My first thought was that Resin must have edited it to fix the typo, but I guess the post would say it's been edited. Resin, you should make it say underpants. That is more entertaining. :o)

Those sans serif type faces are tricky. Take it from someone who gets called MaMa instead of MaRNa

LOL MAMA and Peeper!!

Sorry, no idea what that last pic is of!!

But it does look like it's got a nappy [diaper] under there . . .

Finally stumped Resin!
Please note, the weight of the yellow-underpant bird DID close off the ports of the squirrel buster plus.

OMG! Y'all crack me up!

Seriously though, underpants should become a real bird term. I'd actually be able to remember it! When the color of the rump and the undertail coverts are the same color like say yellow, you should say the underpants are yellow. Somebody respectable like you Resin should start using it and see how long it takes for it to become common among birders everywhere!

I have another mystery bird. I thought it was the Cuckoo from yesterday but it doesn't seem to have the spots on its tail. I guess I should start a new thread with it?

This is my favorite time to watch for birds because they are all migrating through here. Yesterday, I was so busy but I just kept getting lucky when I looked out the window!

Resin, this may help ID Judy's yellow bird:
