I found a few variegated leaved ones and a green double flowering one that has tons of ruffles on it, and some other doubl e ruffly flowered ones that were so cute I couldn't pass them up.
I'dlike to try my luck at rooting leaves, how do you do it? little tiny cups? I have some clear ones, saran wrap over the top , water in side? or pearlite?

one of the plants here
Not normally a big fan of AV's BUT
They are magnificent ones, Kathy!! Good for you. Now you have to tell us the names. I love any greenish white bloom........
If you look in the stickys at the top of the AV forum you will find Rachel's Reflections (she died but still has her site on anything you could ever want to know about african violets and propagating them)
I use the 3 ounce solo cups that I put holes in the bottom or just take the scissors and make a cut on either side of the bottom...........just like Rachel said, I use a mix of 1/2 perlite and 1/2 coarse vermiculite and that is all. Dome them with a zip lock or whatever you have and it will take about 3 or 4 weeks to really root well enough to take the dome off and then about 2 or 3 weeks later you will start to see babies. They will have to grow a while before you try and separate them, but all this information is on Rachel's Reflections. Once again, go to the stickys at the top of the AV forum and find her site.
Kathy , those are really pretty AV's!! I love the top one the best but the green one uniquely pretty also. I hope you get many babies from them. They will be great items in demand for the "trades".
Lurker Lou
Thanks , will check out that sticky, thanks again.
I'll check on those names in just a minute
I might have to go back and make sure I got all the pretty ones LOL
the 4in pots were 5.00 and the big 6 in pots were l0.00 I thought that was reasonable enough for the little ones, I only bought one big one, the first pic and that one is winter smiles

Where in the world are you buying named violets in Arizona? I am just curious if it is a regular nursery or what? Thanks
They are just beautiful
Kathy,
What beautiful plants you got ... Good luck growing them.. When I first came to this forum I hated AV's now I have some Av's I love and then there are streps. and a whole lot more...LOL Welcome to growing.. You will be hooked really soon if you are not already. LOL
Hugs,
Susan
WEll, first off, Im in Arkansas LOL
and there is a little specialty nursery in the next town over, about l2 miles from here, She's very high dollar for themost part. probably won't like me coming in and buying out all her variegated violets LOL
hey, but i'm a customer too LOL
Five dollars is nothing for named big violets. Even at our best nurseries here who carry un named violets, they are 6.50 each..................and they look like no name violets, too.................You really got a bargain.................go back and look at the non variegated ones, too................there are just as many pretty blooms on them.
ok, I think you twisted my arm there LOL
Very Nice Kathy!! Wish we had one of those specialty nurseries around here..on second thought..its probably a blessing we don't..lol..I could get in a world of trouble in a hurry if there was I am sure!
OH my goodness, I just came back from that nursery. YOu guys are bad for me LOL I felt you twisting my arm every time I put more of them on the counter, saying "go back for more" LOL
I got l0 more this morning, my gosh you should see these things.
I'm gonna bring a couple for door prizes at the Arkansas round up on the l7th.

Thanks Gail. They had some beauties up there, I asked if that's all they were getting and they said that was it.
Silverglades are hard to find and I have never had a Ness that I didn't love!
Cool, glad to know that.
