We've been getting estimates this week to have panels put on our roof to generate electricity. There are still some rebates, but it is very expensive. However, we'll be retiring in 6-7 years and are doing things now that will reduce our costs when we're living on reduced income. We don't know how bad electricity rates will be in the future, but it's likely they'll be worse than they are now. I've been taking tips from my patients that have already retired. Some things that they did to get ready, and some things they wish they did. We want to get all our home repairs or improvements done in these next few years, maybe convert the greenhouse from flowers to veggies (not yet!)
What would you guys do if you were going to retire soon, or what do you wish you had done?
