This is a new disease/condition to me. I've had cats all my life and never encountered this. Last Wednesday, he had 260 ml of chyle (lymphatic fluid) removed from his chest cavity. His regular vet had misdiagnosed him (with lymphoma) and by the time I got to the specialist, he was literally suffocating. The specialist recommended a low fat diet and Rutin, a plant-based supplement that is thought to help repair his lymph system. I think the fluid is building up again and he has an appointment to see the new vet again tomorrow.
I have not read very much that offers a lot of hope for cure, only remission - and that usually for less than a year. It seems to be rare (it sure is to me), but I thought someone here might have some experience with it. If you have, please let me know what happened with your cat.
Reynard is a strange little cat, but sweeter than sweet. This is a photo taken when he was less than a year old. He's between 2 and 3 now. Too young to have something this bad happening.
My cat has chylothorax
