So out here we're starting to get hot, and slowly but surely my cool weather crops are finishing up. This is my first year for leeks, and I'm wondering--does the floppy top mean it's time to harvest? I'm guessing the base is about maybe an inch or so in diameter. (I forgot about trenching when I planted it, so I'm afraid there won't be much white to it, but I'm thrilled to do this well anyway--started this baby from seed!)
Thanks for the help!
My leeks are getting floppy
Looking good Jill! Is there a pot of potato and leek soup in your future? My onions, shallots and garlic are all looking like they are about ready too. I didn't do any leeks this year but maybe next season. I've never grown leeks before so it's about time I do.
Thanks, Dan! Actually, it'll be chicken-barley-leek soup for this baby, but next year if I get the potato thing worked out I'll be giving that a try too.
