The article that I wrote on the Emerald Ash Borer "Devil in a Green Dress" won first place in the Michigan Garden Clubs Inc. best feature story category .

The story relates the speed at which the Emerald Ash Borer devastated millions of ash trees in Michigan and the steps being taken to control this destructive pest.

The story has been forwarded on to the National competition.

Congratulations Paul!

Can you repost it here or send it to me to read? I have 28 acres here and twenty of them are woods. Most of our woods is ash trees so this is a topic of great concern to me. I'd really love to read what the latest developments are to control the bug. I need some hope. I can't seem to plant trees fast enough to replace the ash trees with when they die. I hope we might not lose them. As far as I know they aren't right here yet but I could be wrong.

Good article Paul. I'm a little disappointed that they haven't come up with some type of broad aerial spray program like they have for the mosquitos. I have hundreds of ash trees and there is no way I could afford an arborist to come in and do injections and soil drenches on all of them. :( I guess I'll just have to pray that the little bug soon becomes food for a bigger bug.

Great job!

Congratulations, Paul on your award! The Emerald Ash borer has really devastated the ash trees here on Old Mission peninsula. We had one taken down yesterday and we counted 130 rings in it. It was able to grow and thrive for 130 years, yet was killed by these little bugs. Really sad.
