DH saw a little face peeking out of a long-unused owl box up on the barn. When he talked to it, this is what 'flew' out.............a flying squirrel!
I have never seen one and am thrilled to have this tiny visitor.
What roosts in an owl box and flies?
Adorable little guy! Do you think he/she has a family in the box?
He's so cute. I hope he sticks around so we get to see more of him.
I had them in my bluebird boxes and wasn't too pleased, but they are cute!
The fella at the feed store had them too. He fed them peanuts and the family adored them until they moved into their attic, garage and sheds. They like our heating/ac and like some other rodents, they love to eat thru wires.
Oh, great. We're in the country and already have enough trouble with mice, rats, and chipmunks. Why oh why do they love wire so much???
....no way! Those darn-little sugar gliders....I firmly believe those critters have ninja like abilities. Oh, what can't they do?
I don't know why they like them so much. The chipmunks do too. I was in the feed store asking what I could do - short of killing them all - to get them out of my wall and keep them out. I have to get that done before the electrician can come in and fix what the "cute" chipmunks chewed. The feed store guy said that he took down all of his feeders and put the outdoor lights on a motion detector and still had three families move in on him. He has been trying to get rid of them for 2 months now. g'luck
Nan, I have sent you an email. Check your mail at the top of the page.
Oh, thanks, I never would have seen it if you hadn't said so.
