Well, maybe this is a sign - me starting the daily farm forum thread!(?)
Today is Move Day. Its official. I now live full-time in the country...next step is actually farming, huh?
The BIG TRUCK is on its way from Chicago right now with the office equipment/desks/files etc. Having some shaky thoughts about how its all going to fit, but...it will.
Am eating a 'just picked' apple - first of the season - from my apple orchard. The orchard was here when I bought the place 5 years ago. Its had one professional pruning in that time and no other care or spraying. This is the best tasting apple I've had in a long time: crisp, very juicy, not too sweet, not too tart...My Mom has promised to teach me her (very flakey) pie crust recipe next month...with 20 trees, that's a lotta pies...
Northern Illinois weather is drippy, very humid, with intermittent shower/thunderstorms. The grass that was previously burnt to a crisp is now over due for cutting. The corn field next door is starting to turn, baling looks to be about done and there's that little note in the air, early in the morning that says fall is on its way.
Counting my blessing here, too....Have a great weekend Everyone.
Catherine
