Tips for flying with your dog

I need to go to Calgary, AB Canada from New Orleans for 3 weeks this summer and would love to take my dog Keli with me, she will be a year old on Sept 2. She is an Australian Labradoodle.

Does anyone have any information that would help to make this as stress free for both of us. I am a bit concerned about the tempuratures at that time of year leaving NOLA, as she will be required to fly in the cargo hold. :~(
