I live in hot and humid LA zone 9. I started out with one brug but now I have 5. I have one in an area that gets some evening sun and it is doing well there. I don't have the space in that area to put the others. Can they take full sun in my heat zone?

Brugs, sun and heat
Hello Dorothy,
I think that they can take full sun but some really need shade so I would say it depends on what kind of Brug you are talking about..

There's a saying more or less along the following lines: If the cultural directions say the plant can take the full sun, in Texas it needs some shade. I bet Louisiana may be the same. My brugs wilt in the afternoon, even when just watered, on a hot summer day if they get too much directly sunlight. Ideally, morning sun with shade the rest of the day is the way to go. They can handle afternoon sun if it is very late in the day. The western sun is the hottest. The leaves are so large that the plant can translocate enough water to keep the leaves turgid.
