Hibiscus & Limestone Rock

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Hello to somebody who might be able to help me answer a question. I have a few limstone rocks that I collected in the wild and I just thought they would be so cool to display in a container with a Hibiscus. I was wondering if I placed a piece of this rock as an accent in the same container with the Hibiscus, would it negativley effect the plant because of the rock's alkalinity. Not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks and have a great day!

Hello Chach_08

I don't have the answer, just wanted to say that I thought; "That would be a beautiful rock"...I had to click on the thread to see a picture of the Hibiscus Limestone Rock. My roots are quite blonde this time in the morning! LOL Hope you find the answer!

I honestly don't know how fast the lime would leach out into the soil and raise the pH to a point where the hibiscus wouldn't be happy. If you want to try it, just keep checking your soil pH on a regular basis, and if it starts to creep up then take the rock out.

I don't think you will have any problem w/ the rock. Good luck, chach.
