What is the best incubator?

Woodsville, NH

Hi I want to get a new incubator with an auto turner. What is the best one under $200? Thanks in advance!

Brinsea.

Brinsea is the best--especially the one with the auto-cradle turner. But they are so expensive. I have my heart set of the Brinsea 700(?) but it is over $300.00. Sigh.

I'm about the use a styraphome one for the first time, I can let you know what I think in 21 days- ha ha.

I used a styrofoam one for two years now. This year I have hatched a whole lot of eggs so I want to up grade even to another styro with autoturner! Just follow the directions and you should be fine. I learned not to rush the turning of the eggs, I cracked some. Since the hen get off the nest to eat drink and poop they aren't always at the exact temp.
I think I can wait till before next season to give my hubby a chance to get over the price and get a Brinsea.

You're right LoraK about not rushing whien you turn or candle--I used to worry until I read that it was considered desirable to let the eggs cool off at least once a day. Probably imitating what happens when Mamma gets off.

I have a LittleGiant with the newly designed egg-turner. It seems to work very well. I think the old turner may have had problems with durability. They still sell it, but they are replacing it with the new one.
