domininkers/bar rocks same?

Hamshire, TX

does anyone know if bar rock chickens and dominikers are the same thing? and also what is the difference between rir and production reds?

Lodi, United States

Production reds are derived from RIR for better egg production, but not much else. They are not heritage--but if all you want is eggs, they are fine.

I think bar rocks are probably barred Plymouth Rocks--Dominikers are Dominiques which are also barred. They are a very old American breed that was surplanted by the Barred Plymouth Rock during the mid-nineteenth century. Dominiques are lovely birds--good at foraging and egg laying. Suppose to be very gentle and easy to work with.
