OT but important!!
YUP...fakes are common on the internet...like the 3 who tried it on our forum! We need to be really careful. I got a bill from Ebay for 90$ and I hadn't sold anything!!! Obviously...it wasn't from ebay.
The best ones are the African dudes who won the lottery but can't cash their checks unless you send them $$$. After they receive your $$$ they then promise to pay of the government 'duties' they owe and mail a large check back to you as a "thank you" :) LOL
Bank of American and Wachovia are always losing my account information... even though I don't have accounts with them???? Those silly banks.
I did have a scare once when I found a motorcycle for sale under my eBay account. Luckily I got through to eBay before the auction close and they removed the listing for me. I can't imagine the fuss if someone actually won the auction and sent their money to god knows who and then expected me to ship them a bike I didn't even own.
As long as there are the two main components (people and money) there will always be theft. It's unfortunate, frustrating, and really ticks me off but... it's life.
So much fraud out there ... and nowadays a lot of Cyber Fraud too!
I just found this info at the IRS website: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=155682,00.html
I did forward the email to the phishing.com at IRS. If people like that would put that same energy into doing something legal, they and the world would be better off!!
Blessings,
Awanda
So true Awanda! So many out there who, instead of doing good in this world, would rather take advantage. Really ticks me off too!
If they would only put that energy in doing something kind, or take a can of food to the food bank, or....or..... the world would be better off.
Amen!
BTW....I just got this...thought I would pass it along:

I've gotten a different one twice lately-
Someone wants to offer me a job! I don't even have to quit my present job. It only takes 2-3 hours a day working at home and most people make 5000 a month. All I have to do is fill out a form with my personal info, send it to them and I will have this job with Bank of America! Oh but it's only available if I live in the US or Canada- I can't live in the UK....
Hmmm....Wonder what the next scam will be?
It is really sad. I have a friend here with an ex-husband (read: CRAZY ex-husband) who answers all those Liberian emails and agonizes over the whole process...and LOVES it. He really thinks they are real!!!
I got one from a friend of mine from NIGERIA..."her purse had been stolen and she was in jail because the cab she was in ran a red light and she didn't have her purse....and could I send her 500$ to pay her hotel bill and.....". I called her and she was here. Her ID had been stolen off her computer.
Ever think we are typing on time bombs?????
Carol
