colour printer recommendations

I have a Canon S400 printer which persistently gives me problems. Had all the print heads changed not long ago at a price which would nearly have bought me a new printer, but I don't like throwing stuff away if it's repairable. Besides, I had a lot of ink for it. But now it's no longer working again.

This time I'm thinking of buying something different. I have an HP laser printer (1020 which is not colour compatible) which is my primary printer and one of the problems is that the print ends dry up if I don't use the Canon at least once a week or even more often. So I'm thinking maybe I should go colour laser unless there are other brands out there that don't have the problem of drying up.

Any recommendations for an affordable (for the ink too) colour printer which will not have these problems?
