My Nana's bird

South, TX

I thought I would show my Nana's clip on bird I put on the violet stand. She is gone now and the bird is watching my plants. Nana loved birds SO much. She did not have violets, but she was a wonderful gardener. Her yard was wonderful. She was a wonderful and very beautiful woman. 93 years old when we lost her.

Anyway, I love having her pretty things. Do you all have little objects near your violets that mean a lot?

The crystal angel is Murano glass from a friend in Italy.

Sally,

I love fairies and have them stuck everywhere around the house :)
Here is my sleeping fairy gazing ball among the streps.

And this pretty fairy dances at the top of my light stand watching over all the babies and whispering to them "You better grow as she will be up in the morning checking on you.......AGAIN" *lol*

Sally that bird looks almost real! Looks so pretty looking down on the AV! What is it made out of?
Love your fairies Kim! Especially the hanging one

I guess it is ceramic. Like most figurines I guess, not sure. I have a nice collection of her birds in my large bathroom window too. This nice since it clips on.

I love that purple wine blooming av you have Sally! Nice!

Kim, you go girl! Look at all those streps. My gosh, you are becoming a pro with them and I thought you quit growing them. I would never quit if my babies looked as good as yours!

Gail, what do we always say? We show the pictures of our successes, not our failures.
Most of the streps in this picture came to me WITH roots :)
Success rate of me propagating them on my own from leaf.........less than 10% *lol*
I seem to do OK with the streps that are already rooted *lol*

Thank you for the compliment though *lol*

I should start taking pictures of the complete trays of dead streps I've killed *lol*

Oh, and I've seen pictures of your streps......yours are NOT babies :) Some of the streps in this picture have been being grown since last October and only have 1 or 2 new leaves *lol*

You are so funny :)

LOL Gail, that is AWESOME!
I see SO MANY similarities to my house *lol*
Just this morning I was scrounging under the bed because that is where I keep my "stash" of 3 and 5 oz. cups and hubby starts CRACKING UP! He says, "Sweetie, NOW you have a stash under the bed?....it's not enough to have under the kitchen table, the whole wall along your side of the bed, the bottom of the stand in the kitchen, the top of the stand in the laundry room, the 4th drawer in your dresser, but now you have plant "necesseties" under the bed too? You are SO funny luv".
It's true, I HAVE to organize my "necesseties" real soon as I'm running out of hiding places now *lol*
I can't throw out 1 container because "that would make a good......fill in the blank......pot, resevoir, dome, etc. *lol*".
It's SO MUCH fun though isn't it?
I always say...... I have all winter to clean *lol* Cleaning is done now until the first snow *lol*

There's worse things in life than a messy/happy home :)

Gail, I'd be there in a heartbeat if I could and you know that!
It would be SO SO SO much fun cleaning your "mess". Yeah RIGHT, that's not even CLOSE to being a mess my friend!

gotta quit playing on the computer and hit it hard!!!

Sure wish we all lived closer .... wouldn't it be fun to be able to get together for a weekend of chat, plant shopping or just viewing the scenery?

PLEASE Gail!!! That's not even a mess! But does look like you've got a chore ahead of you 'fixing' all your sale plants...
Wish we could all be there to help- wouldn't that be fun?!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You have no idea how much I wish just one of you were here!!! (LOL)
Each time I do this I say, "Never ever again and then I do it again".

(Zone 1)

Gail, if a few of us could be there we'd help you get all those plants ready for the sale this weekend! I can just picture it now ... a bunch of us playing in the dirt together, potting those cute little AV's and putting ribbons and bows on everything ... oohing and aahing over all those gorgeous plants! And, I would definitely help with clean up!

Yeah ... we need a Gessie Party at Gessiegail's house!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I so wish that some of you could come in the fall and we could 'hit the nurseries' and just visit!!! There is nothing in the world I wouldn't do in preparation for such an event!! I mean it as I so want to get to actually see you all.

Yea, I am through and 9 permanest trays are packed under the lights and ready to go.......All I need to do is add the straw with my number from the club and a price.
We really don't sell them for much.

Later on tonight when the gro lights go off, I will take some pics but you can't see the containers they are in. In fact, you can't see much as there are so many squashed up plastic grocery bags between each plant so they don't fall over when I travel with them in the car Saturday morning early.

Keep thinking everyone about a gessie party .........There are so many good nurseries within driving distance from my house. I already have 6 beds and we could even add some mattresses on the floors!

(Zone 1)

Oh, that would be so much fun! Is that an invitation to Gessiegail's Pajama Party??

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, that is an open invitation and please come, one and all. My brother lives down the road and they has empty bedrooms, too.........I could take some people and sleep just less than a mile down the road.

Wouldn't that just be the 'berries' if we could pull this on off. Middle to late October is where the bargains are as people don't want to buy plants they have to overwinter. For the right price, I will overwinter anything!
