I was wondering if I can fence in a large area and have different shelters inside that area for the chickens, geese (and possibly ducks) with them all sharing the common area. Would this work? Does anyone foresee problems (like attacks)?

A poultry housing question
mine all get along fine. how are you going to teach them which house is theirs? i can see them all crwoding into one LOL
LOL well I will try but if they all want to live in one big house I don't have a problem with that since it would be easier to keep them cozy in winter. I just have to make sure there are nest for everyone who needs it. By winter I plan on only having one rooster from the chickens and of course the geese pair will be there. I'm trying to see if I can slip in some ducks under the "how'd those get in there" scheme LOL. Of course that wading pool I put in there was only for the geese he already knows about!

keep up the good camo work, cap'n!
LOL! ^_^ You think if I use that camo paint the hunters use on their stuff I can hide those ducks better? I can see those ducks now with grey/green/ cream stripes on them!

ducks can be mistaken for geese, so just rotate which ones you turn out...
Only if I get white ducks! Remember my geese are white chinese LOL
Now what white ducks are flightless or less likely to fly?

My ducks and geese live on my pond year round. They would not go into their house if I paid them. They free range with the chickens all summer. I bubble the pond in the winter, they have to have their water.

white pekins are fun. they finally quit going into the hen house. i still have to run the geese out of the chicken coop, they make such a mess of the feeder, and most nights i have to run the ducks out of the hen house. they were born in there while the chickens were absent...
i regularly mistake the ducks for the geese from a distanc,e esp when they are in the tubs... hint hint
LOL I think I won this skirmish TF. I just got Paul to agree to my adding 4 Cayuga Ducks to our Ideal order if it won't mess the rest of the order up! I shot an email off to Kibbie right away!! I let him read the description and he liked what he saw. These were developed in NYS for our climate (big plus!) and aren't as noisy as Pekins (another big plus!). LOL I just have to wear that man down.
A short while ago we were driving along when he spotted a creek that was real nice and he said "that's a nice looking POND down there" ROFL. I said it's a creek dear and he said I had been talking about a pond so much that he was confused ;-) Now to keep him confused! Maybe I'll get that pond yet!^_^
