When do fall-sown seedlings emerge in zone 8a and does anyone have a picture of the seedlings?
Cowpen Daisies
Mine are not quite that big, but look like they could be what you have there. Thanks Josephine.
TJ, I planted my Cowpen Daisy seeds in mid-March (per Debnes's instructions). I'll take a photo of the seedlings tonight for you.
I winter sowed the SawLeaf Daisy seeds you gave me at the Arlington RU and they are doing very well so far. I think they will take off when the night temps warm up a bit.

That's great Carla! Remember, the Sawleaf Daisies are very xeric plants and they can get very tall before blooming. They'll only have one stalk with a cluster of flowers at the end of summer, unless you cut or pinch them back a few times throughout the summer, then they'll make several stalks and bush out a bit. Can't wait to hear how they do for you! Thanks for the news!
I am looking forward to my Sawleaf daisies too, actually I am up to my ears in new seedlings, cuttings, and so much going on, I am very busy.
If the old saying "Idle time is the devil's workshop" is true, then he ought not bother any of us, huh?
That is for sure T.J.
No doubt! Every time I go into my flowerbeds I find a new seedling that needs to be moved, admired, fussed over, or pulled up.
Carla
Just to add to the fun, we have been redoing our family room ever since the Monday after the RU. Thought we could paint in a couple of days. We are in our second week. Lookin' good, tho.
Christi
Hello Christi, I am sure your room will turn out beautiful,
but do you have Cowpen Daisies?
I don't know, Jo. Mitch brought me ox-eye and another that I don't know the name.
They have been in my bed for less than a month and they are both blooming like crazy. I guess I need to look up Cowpen and see what it is.
Christi
No, Josephine I don't have cowpen daisy. I have yellow and red Gerber daisy that comes back faithfully every year. The yellow coreopsis (which looks like a daisy to me) is showing off big time.
And these are the Saw Leaf Daisies. The 2 big guys were planted as seeds directly into the soil on January 13. The little guy on the left was winter sown in a planter full of potting soil on that same day (and kept mostly out of direct sunlight). I transplanted him on Sunday. He is definitely "punier" than the ones winter sown directly into the soil.
Carla
Bumped up for TJ.
Carla
Ok, the ones I have coming up are not far behind yours, Carla. Your Sawleaf Daisies are looking good! Thanks!
