I decided to extend a flower bed & move some of the garden furniture around. Ended up being a much larger job than I had anticipated. I removed a bunch of stone & now have to dig out about a foot of gravel, which is packed down hard. Then I need to remove the grass in a large area under the patio table, then I need to move the dirt into the new flower bed & then I need to move the gravel where the new stone patio will be. Need to get more gravel & sand. And it doesn't look like we will have weather to cooperate with this makeover. I hope to have this finished within 2 weeks, but it looks like it will be longer.
New Project
Sounds like you have quite the project going....I am sure it will look great! hey I just love your patio furniture!
I like the look of that new bed Joanne.
Getting kind of crowded back there isn't it?
Looks great JB! My backyard needs a huge overhaul with the tree gone and junk everywhere but between the weather and work, not moving forward quickly. does the family participate or is it a solo project? Theresa
So far it's been solo. The kid dug down in the gravel to see how deep it is & DH helped me move the furniture. I just need to roll up my sleeves and get to it. Perhaps the family will help when they notice I'm near exhaustion.
Lots/lots of work ahead of you..looking great though..you'll be so proud of your accomplishment once it's complete and the flowers/shrubs in bloom..want to see a finished project..lol
Looking great and like Betty said you will be so proud of your accomplishment once your done :)
As for gravel and sand, too bad you don`t like closer you could help yourself to my gravel and sand pile in my driveway...lol
We ordered wayyyyyyyy too much for our greenhouse project on the weekend...so now we will end up taking it by wheelbarrow and move to the back of the house.
And me too I want to see pictures of the finished project :)

Should have made the title plural - PROJECTS
Today, the kid was home sick, so I moved 6 roses. I had a hedge of 12 roses which became too tight for most. I relocated Louis Julliet, Linda Campbell, Simon Fraser, Jen Munks, Morden Cardinette and JP Connel. Left in the hedge a mini, Charles Albunel, Scarlet Pavement, Purple Pavement, John Franklin & Red Leaf. I dug out grass and extended one bed about 5 feet towards the chairs. I have 19 hardy roses in my front yard.
Holy cow Jo, you have been busy! Aren't you exhausted? Don't forget to save room for the Morden Fireglow. It's hogging my dahlia space. :)
Joanne
My arms are throbbing. Yup, there is a spot for the Fireglow. The bulbs are just starting to emerge, so it will be better to plant the Fireglow when I can see where everything is.
It did the dirt mound around all of the transplanted roses. Just heard about that this spring @ a workshop....called sweating roses. I will remove the mound in 2 weeks.
Too bad you can't get Todd to do more work hehehee!!!
Gosh your projects look fantastic!!! I am amazed at all the work you have done so far! You are doing very well my friend! Just don't over do it!!!
I love what you did to the front of the house! Great job! Keep those pics coming!
Very impressive! I'm feeling positively lazy now :-) Oh well...my turn starts in about a week and a half when I begin tearing up and completely redesigning my back yard. LOL It's my overdue fix for a "well it looked good on paper" design flaw.
That is going to look so nice when it's done but my back hurts just looking at the heavy work you have to do. I like the look on your husband's face there, lol. I often wonder if they think we're nuts everytime we want to do a garden project....my DH just shakes his head or rolls his eyes but will pitch in somewhat.
I hope the weather cooperates so you can do more work. I like the curves in the garden pic you showed on April 30th. I can never get them looking like that, lol.
Looking forward to your progress,
Erynne
Beautiful! You've done an awesome job.
Lookin' good Jo!

Way to go, Jo south! Your neat edging sets everything off so nice. Especially like what you've done with your front yard. What is growing on the trellis at the front of the house?
Sandy
Great pics and what a lot of work. DH is in Calgary right now. One of these days I'll go with him and come see your garden.
Is that a soaker hose attached to the overflow on your rain barrel? I should look into something like that, though we've had so much rain the last few days that it would probably overflow too.
