Thanks, Kell. It was just one of those moments of serendipity.

I was at Bernheim that day for a workshop to develop the scope of work for a new landscape collections master plan. On the way in I caught a very few morning shots, but by late afternoon we were done with the work and I made a "beeline" back to the crabapple collection.

All I really had to do was point - the plants were doing all the heavy lifting.

Just came across this thread...researching Malus prairiefire (I think I've got pomes for this variety). How do you think that happened? Can they be trained as tree or a shrub?
