Hello everyone,
I need your help. I bought this hoya as H.longifolia, and based on the flowers it’s evident that it’s not. My guess is that it’s a H.wayetti. However, I’ve read on several pages that H. wayetti and H. kentiana are the same plant.
To me the flowers of both plants look almost identical, but I think there is still a difference.
So my question is whether or not this plant is a H. wayetti, and if not what is it? The scent is sweet and strong, similar to the H. fungii, but not as bad smelling.
ID help please!
Looks like minibelle. Definitely not wayetti.
Jan
The leaves look like my Kentiana.
Thank you very much Jan and threegardeners for your reply.
Lourdes =)
I'd go with minibelle........the flowers on wyetti look totally different.
ThreeGardeners,
The foliage does look like kentiana/wayetii, but the flowers are nothing like it.
I agree with minibelle.

Wow, what a bloom!!
I can't wait for mine to bloom now...I think I'll go search it closer to see if there are peduncles forming...
Thank you Ric for your help.
I’ll change the label to minibelle.
threegardeners, my H. kentiana looks very similar to yours, but without the red edges =)
Thank you all very much!
Lourdes

Thank you Mel!
Yes,the leaves look very similar to mine, I like the cv. minibelle, but I wanted the longifolia. Oh well. I'll start looking for it again. (lol)
Thank you!
Mel...how are you growing that great looking H. longifolia? low light? bright indirect light? wet? dry? i have some small plants that seem to just pout....?????
carol
Thanks Carol. The plant hangs close to the ceiling fan with a bit of afternoon winter sun. It does dry out, although, that is mostly because it hangs behind other plants and is easy to miss when I water. It has been in bloom for several months. It came from David Liddle and I'll be glad to check the IML # if you like. I beleive it is from Nepal.
Mel
